Department of Islamic Jurisprudence
About Us
Islamic Jurisprudence is a field of study fundamentally based on divine revelation that establishes the practical rulings of the Islamic religion in daily life, relying on specific evidence and sources. Islamic Jurisprudence, which occupies an important place in the programs of faculties offering higher religious education, is approached in a comparative and analytical manner, covering the practical rulings of the Islamic religion relating to individual and social life, as well as the legal thinking and experience that has developed around these rulings throughout history. Within the main field of Islamic Jurisprudence at our faculty, courses such as Introduction to Islamic Jurisprudence, Principles of Islamic Worship, Islamic Legal Methodology, and Comparative Islamic Jurisprudence are taught; thus, the aim is for students to learn the practical rulings of the Islamic religion as well as the differences in methodology and interpretation, and thereby gain scholarly knowledge. The courses offered and thesis studies conducted at our faculty at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels in various fields of Islamic jurisprudence contribute to a better understanding and comprehension of the history of Islamic thought.
