Department of Sufism
About Us
Department of Sufism is part of the Division of Basic Islamic Sciences. It is taught as a two-hour course in the first and second semesters of the fourth year of undergraduate education. In addition, our faculty offers master's and doctoral programs within the Institute of Social Sciences at our university.
Sufism continues to be a living lifestyle that people encounter in their daily lives. It has lasted for centuries and continues to do so. Therefore, teaching this course at the faculty of theology is considered a necessity and is included among the compulsory courses. Information that will be useful for our students is provided in the course, taking into account the historical process. The topics covered generally include the origins of Sufism, its periods, sources, its relationship with other Islamic sciences, the period of asceticism, the Prophet Muhammad and Sufism, Sufi schools, the period of Sufi orders, and Sufi orders. In addition, information and answers are provided in line with the questions and opinions of the students.
With the idea that the knowledge and experience they gain here will guide them when they become educators or take on roles in the religious community in the future, we strive to provide information that will also appeal to their hearts. Thanks to the Sufism course that has been taught at our faculty for many years, our department strives to train good theologians.
